Festive lights remain installed past their occasion for a fourth consecutive year, with no removal timeline established.
Q1 Review
Festival light extension entered Q1 in an extended state. Lights installed prior to the October occasion remained in place through the winter months. No removal was scheduled. No removal was discussed.
The absence of a removal deadline is structurally significant. Apartment buildings leave festive lights hanging after the occasion because removal has no equally visible deadline. Installation has a deadline: the occasion. Removal has none. This asymmetry has compounded annually.
Q2 Review
Lights remained. Festival light extension first adds one extra decision to a moment that previously required none. The decision is: should these be taken down. The answer requires consensus, a ladder, and a Saturday. No Saturday was allocated.
Q3 Review
The building's newer residents have not experienced the building without festival lights. Their baseline is the extended state. Other people begin anticipating that decision and quietly adjust their own behavior. In practical terms, nobody proposed removal because proposing removal had begun to seem like the unusual preference.
Festival light extension becomes valid procedure after two repetitions without objection. It has now completed many more than two.
Q4 Review
New lights were installed for the current occasion. They were installed adjacent to the prior year's lights, which remain. Both sets are now operational. The total light density has increased.
Eventually the ordinary task feels improperly performed unless festival light extension happens first. At present, the ordinary task is adding lights. Removing them is not the ordinary task.
Full-Year Assessment
Festival light extension remains valid once changing it would require more explanation than repeating it. That explanation would need to cover three years of accumulated precedent, two sets of lights, and the neighbor on the fourth floor who has complimented the lights on separate occasions.
