CLASSIFICATION NOTICE Subject: Festival Crowd Recalibration Classification Level: Individual Experience, Irreversible

This notice classifies festival crowd recalibration as a documented behavioral transition affecting individuals who attended large public events regularly in their twenties and have since developed altered perceptions of the same or comparable crowds.

The transition is defined as follows. A crowd that was previously experienced as an energizing component of the event is now experienced as a logistical obstacle, a source of overstimulation, or evidence of poor planning on someone's part. The crowd has not changed. The classification has changed.

First correspondence item. Multiple individuals report discovering this transition at a specific event after which the crowds were described as "too much" for the first time. Prior to this event, no complaint about crowd density had been recorded. After this event, crowd density became a primary evaluation criterion. The transition event is specific and remembered. The mechanism of transition is not.

Second correspondence item. The recalibration affects adjacent preferences. The previously preferred general admission standing area is reclassified as inferior to seated arrangements. The preferred arrival time shifts from at-capacity to early or late. The preferred departure time shifts from after the headliner to before the encore. These adjustments are made for stated practical reasons that are not themselves new practical problems.

Third correspondence item. The recalibrated individual typically reports that the festival was excellent but that next time they would like to be less in the crowd. This preference cannot be fully satisfied at a festival and the individual is aware of this. The preference is maintained regardless.

The absurd rule governing this pattern is that the event designed around high attendance is evaluated negatively for achieving high attendance, and the evaluation is held in parallel with genuine enthusiasm for attending.

The contradiction is present at the point of purchase. The recalibrated individual buys a ticket, plans to attend, and arrives expecting the experience to be better than last time despite having made no structural change.

This notice is issued as a classification only. No remediation is proposed. The crowd will be there. The person will be in it.
