CHAIR: Please state for the record when the dark mode was activated.
WITNESS: Sometime around 10pm.
CHAIR: And when did the screen become uncomfortable?
WITNESS: Around 9:45.
CHAIR: Fifteen minutes elapsed between the onset of discomfort and the application of the available remedy.
WITNESS: I was in the middle of something.
CHAIR: The interface provides a dark mode toggle. The toggle has been present since this device was configured. Is that accurate?
WITNESS: Yes.
CHAIR: And you were aware of its location.
WITNESS: Yes.
CHAIR: The interface creates a small question and the dark mode timing answers it badly. The question is: when should dark mode be applied? The answer the device's own scheduling feature gave you was sunset. You overrode this. Why?
WITNESS: I preferred to choose manually.
CHAIR: And your manual choice was to wait until the problem had already arrived.
WITNESS: That's one way to describe it.
CHAIR: Let the record reflect that the witness also, following the dark mode activation, checked whether the mode had successfully applied. Can you explain the second check?
WITNESS: I wanted to make sure it worked.
CHAIR: The interface confirmed it worked.
WITNESS: I wanted to see the confirmation myself.
CHAIR: A second control was used to verify the first control.
WITNESS: I'd just say I verified it.
