The app is three folders deep. The price has not changed. The mood has.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS Governing the Practice of Exchange App Hiding Effective: Since the Third Consecutive Down Week

Article I. Definitions

"Exchange App Hiding" means the deliberate relocation of a cryptocurrency trading application from the device's home screen to a folder, subfolder, or secondary page, for the stated purpose of reducing compulsive checking behavior, executed without any reduction in compulsive checking behavior.

"The Check" means any act of opening, searching for, or navigating to the exchange application for the purpose of reviewing current portfolio value, whether or not the value has materially changed since the previous check, which it has not, which is the point.

Article II. The Governing Rule

Uncertainty may be converted into certainty by checking the same number again under identical conditions.

This conversion does not work. The rule remains in effect.

Article III. Standard Procedure

The exchange app hiding proceeds through the following accepted stages:

  1. The market falls. The app is checked.
  2. The market falls again. The app is checked again.
  3. The decision is made to stop checking. The app is moved to a folder.
  4. The folder is opened. The app is checked.
  5. The folder is renamed "Utilities" to reduce the folder's psychological salience.
  6. The app is found through search. The folder was irrelevant.

Once exchange app hiding affects a mood twice, checking or explaining it again becomes mandatory research.

Article IV. The Contradiction

The check cannot change the price. This is understood. The check changes the person's mood as if an action occurred. This is also understood.

Both things are understood simultaneously. Neither understanding affects the behavior.

Article V. Enforcement

Eventually exchange app hiding acquires an unwritten enforcement system that everyone denies creating. Housemates no longer ask how the portfolio is doing. The subject does not volunteer the information. A small domestic policy has been established through repeated silence.

The policy is never discussed. It requires no discussion. Silence is sufficient enforcement.

Article VI. The Absurd Rule

After repetition, other people begin adjusting their behavior around exchange app hiding. The subject's partner has rearranged their own evening plans to avoid the post-check window. This is not mentioned. It is noticed.

Article VII. Amendment

These Terms may be amended only by a sustained portfolio recovery of sufficient duration to make checking feel like reward rather than confirmation of loss. Amendment has been proposed internally.

It has not yet been ratified.
