This finding documents the transition of focus blocks from functional commitments to acknowledged decoration, and the subsequent reclassification of this transition as an acceptable operating condition.
Someone stops seeing focus blocks as real commitments once meetings begin landing on top of them. This is not a failure of the calendar system. The calendar system functioned as designed. Meetings were visible. The focus block was also visible. The meeting was scheduled over it anyway, and the focus block offered no objection because it is software.
The first consequence of calendar block blindness is a small decision made without discussion. The person who owns the focus block begins treating it as an optimistic notation rather than a commitment. They accept meetings on top of it. They do not update the block. Both conditions coexist in the calendar without apparent contradiction.
After repetition, other people begin adjusting their behavior around calendar block blindness. They stop checking whether a focus block means a person is unavailable. A focus block is understood as a preference that has not yet been defended. The person who owns it has not defended it. This is taken as consent.
