SUBJECT: The first explanation had momentum behind it. The second had some of that momentum. By the fifth explanation I had begun to hear myself explain it. By the ninth I was observing myself from a position of moderate distance.

SUBJECT: The coin remains the coin. The person is becoming a different person than the one who first held the coin. These two facts are in tension in a way I find somewhat difficult to examine directly.
