Findings Concerning Location Pin Confusion
A location has been shared. The shared location is correct. Three people have now shared their location because the first location was unclear. The group has four location pins.
FORENSIC FINDINGS — Location Pin Multiplicity
SUBJECT: Four location pins for a single meetup, all approximately correct.
The Original Pin
Person A shared the venue location at 7:02pm. This pin was accurate. It placed the venue at its correct GPS position. The pin was the correct information for finding the venue.
The First Ambiguity
The pin represented the venue's geographic location. It did not specify which entrance, which side of the building, or exactly where outside the venue Person A was standing. The venue has three entrances.
Person B's question ("inside or outside?") was reasonable. A pin shows location, not position relative to the structure.
The Clarification That Created More Complexity
Person A's clarification (outside, south entrance) was verbal and not a new pin. Person B, uncertain about the south entrance's location relative to the pin, shared their own pin to indicate their current location. This was intended to establish reference points for navigation.
Person C saw Person B's pin appear and assumed it was a new meetup location. Person C shared their own location to avoid navigating to the wrong spot.
Person D now had: the venue pin, Person B's current location, and Person C's current location, plus A's verbal clarification. Person D asked for confirmation of which pin to navigate to.
The Resolution
The group established voice contact. Everyone was within thirty meters of each other. The navigation issue was proximity, not direction.

The Pattern
Location sharing creates information that requires interpretation. The interpretation may produce additional sharing to resolve ambiguity, which may produce additional ambiguity that requires additional sharing. Voice contact is the correct resolution when proximity is established.
