EVIDENCE
At 8:17 am at a transit gate, the subject's right hand moved toward the outer front pocket of their bag before the subject had looked up from their phone. The hand reached the pocket. The pocket contained the pass. The gate opened. The subject was not surprised.
The routine is meant to make a repeated journey predictable. That function is working. The forensic interest is elsewhere.
FINDINGS
Three findings, in order of significance.
First: bag pocket autopilot precedes conscious intent by approximately 400 milliseconds, based on observed hand-movement timing relative to subject gaze direction. The hand acts before the head confirms the destination. This is not a malfunction. This is the system working.
Second: a small workaround has been created around the system's vulnerability. The vulnerability is item displacement: when the pass is moved to a different pocket, the autopilot reaches for the empty pocket first. The workaround is a secondary check, performed after the reach, that confirms the first motion succeeded. The check is brief. It adds approximately two seconds to each transit entry. The check produces a second check on days when the subject is distracted.
Third: the ordinary action now has a parallel administrative system built around bag pocket autopilot. The item is placed in the correct pocket as a deliberate act each morning. The act is timed. Not replacing the item correctly triggers a rehearsal of the morning, which is a mental check of the check. This occurs on the transit platform.
CONCLUSIONS
