CHAIR: You dismissed the reminder.

WITNESS: I saw it. I was going to do it. I dismissed it because I already knew about the task.

CHAIR: Why did the task need a reminder if you already knew about it?

WITNESS: It needed the reminder to surface at the right time. The time the reminder chose was not the right time.

CHAIR: When would the right time have been?

WITNESS: A few minutes later.

CHAIR: Did you do the task a few minutes later?

WITNESS: I was going to. Something came up.

CHAIR: The governing rule states: a maintenance task counts as remembered only when reminder dismissal reflex becomes impossible to ignore. Would you say the task is currently impossible to ignore?

WITNESS: I would say it's been a while. I noticed this morning.

CHAIR: You noticed. What stopped you from acting on the noticing?

WITNESS: The noticing happened when I was in the middle of something else. I made a mental note.

CHAIR: A mental note.

WITNESS: Which I'm here to discuss.

CHAIR: Reminder Dismissal Reflex begins as a tiny correction. How many times has the reminder been dismissed?

WITNESS: It was a one-time reminder. It has been a personal reminder since then.

CHAIR: That is worse.

WITNESS: I know.

CHAIR: The correction creates extra checking for whether the result is now correct. What is the current status of the task?

WITNESS: Undone. I know exactly what it is. I know exactly how long it takes. I have known both facts for eleven days.

CHAIR: How long does it take?

WITNESS: Four minutes.

CHAIR: Eventually the checking becomes a second maintenance routine attached to the first. The task is now being monitored at a frequency that exceeds the frequency at which it needs to be done.

WITNESS: Yes.

CHAIR: The hearing recommends doing the task before this transcript is filed.

WITNESS: I'll do it right after this.
