INCIDENT RECORD NFT Folder Burial: Counterfactual Review What Would Have Happened If the Subject Had Not Created the Folder
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
In March 2022, the subject created a folder on their desktop titled "NFT_Project_FINAL." The folder contained twelve JPEGs of original artwork, two PDFs explaining smart contract mechanics, one half-finished business plan in a notes document, and forty-three browser bookmarks saved to a companion folder titled "NFT Research."
The subject spent approximately thirty hours over three weeks on this folder. The thirty hours included seven hours of Discord browsing, eleven hours of reading articles, four hours of image creation, and eight hours that are classified in the record as "ambient engagement with the space."
The folder has not been opened since April 14. It is in the second row of the desktop, partially hidden behind a browser window that is usually open.
WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED OTHERWISE
If the folder had not been created, the thirty hours would have been distributed across other activities. Based on the subject's patterns, approximately twelve hours would have gone to streaming television, eight hours to reading, six hours to social activities, and four hours to the side project that the subject was intermittently working on during the same period.
The side project has also stalled, but does not have a folder, and therefore requires no resolution of this kind.

CURRENT STATUS OF THE FOLDER
The folder cannot be deleted without reviewing its contents, and reviewing its contents is not something the subject is prepared to do yet. The review would involve opening the JPEGs and forming a current opinion about them, which would require a context the subject cannot currently access.
The folder will remain on the desktop until a future date when the review feels manageable, or until the subject gets a new computer and does not transfer it.
FINDING
No counterfactual path was identified in which the folder does not exist in some form. The subject would have investigated this space regardless. The folder is a reasonable artifact of the investigation.
