Interim Order on Work Chair Ownership
The chair in the home office now belongs to whoever is currently sitting in it. This order documents the revised allocation framework.

INTERIM ORDER ISSUED
Effective the date of this notice, ownership of the primary work chair is reclassified from individual assignment to occupancy-based allocation. The individual previously assigned the chair retains priority access during documented work hours. Outside documented work hours, the chair is subject to occupancy rules as described herein.
BACKGROUND
The chair was acquired in 2019 for use in a home office occupied by one person during designated work hours. The work hours were regular. The chair remained in the home office between occupancies. No secondary claim existed.
In March 2020, household occupancy during work hours increased. The chair, as the only purpose-built seating unit in the home office, became subject to competing claims. The chair was not designed for this schedule.
OBSERVATION
The primary claimant has noted that the chair contains stored lumbar settings representing several months of adjustment. These settings reflect the primary claimant's spinal geometry and are not transferable. A secondary occupant who adjusts the chair to their own spinal geometry creates a restoration burden that this office acknowledges as non-trivial.
The secondary claimant has noted that the primary claimant is not always present when the chair is available, and that the alternative seating in the household is a dining chair with no lumbar support, a couch whose cushions have compressed to a depth inconsistent with screen-level ergonomics, and a kitchen stool that was selected for aesthetic rather than functional criteria.
This office notes these competing claims without assigning fault. The chair did not anticipate these circumstances. Neither did the household.
INTERIM ORDER
The primary claimant retains the chair during video calls, formal work periods, and any period in which the primary claimant has been seated in the chair for longer than twenty consecutive minutes. The twenty-minute threshold was chosen arbitrarily but is consistent with precedent in analogous asset disputes.
The secondary claimant may use the chair during all other periods, provided that lumbar settings are restored to their prior configuration upon vacating. A documentation card is available upon request from this office.
This interim order will remain in effect until a second chair is acquired.
