Stage 2: The Inspection

A person who did not notice the detail is shown the detail. They now see it. They agree it is notable. The scene resumes.
Stage 3: Escalation
Those seconds acquire tools, reminders, and preferred techniques for doing them correctly. A household member who noticed a detail in an earlier episode now pauses preemptively to check backgrounds in episodes where nothing has yet been noticed. The pause is exploratory. The exploration is its own purpose.
Stage 4: Social Infrastructure
The routine eventually needs its own exception policy for the rare person who refuses to perform it. Someone who does not pause is now watching the film differently from everyone else. The subscription exists for relaxation, but selecting and managing it becomes administrative work, and paused frame inspection is one item in the administrative process.
