Notice Concerning Vaccine Slot Refresh
The page has not changed. The check continues anyway.
Application Reference: VSLOT-2021-JAN
Subject: Formal Request for Continued Authorization of Vaccine Slot Refresh Protocol
Submitted to: The Household Decision-Making Authority
Status: Pending Review
I. Background
In or around January 2021, the applicant began a practice of refreshing the CoWIN vaccine booking page at intervals of no less than seven minutes and no more than fifteen, in pursuit of an available slot. The original slot window closed before the applicant could complete the booking. The applicant adapted.
The adaptation worked once. That is the foundation of everything that follows.
II. Current Practice
The applicant now opens the vaccine booking portal before any related task: checking WhatsApp groups for slot tips, calling the family network for updates, or simply confirming the phone is charged. The refresh check precedes these activities even when the slot status is already known to be unavailable. Particularly on mornings when the applicant's mother sends a voice note at 6:47 AM.
The sequence is as follows. Open app. Refresh. Note the absence of green slots. Close app. Reopen app. Refresh again. The uncertainty is not reduced. A new reason to check is created in its place.
Familiarity acquires authority once a workaround has been repeated in public.
III. Justification for Continued Authorization
The applicant acknowledges that this behavior has no measurable impact on slot availability. The server does not generate appointments faster in response to individual requests. The refresh interval has no documented relationship to slot release schedules.
None of this matters.
What matters is that the behavior was present on the one occasion when a slot did appear. Post-hoc attribution is not the applicant's concern. What the record shows is a slot appearing after a refresh. The record stands.
Skipping vaccine slot refresh now looks careless even when the original risk or inconvenience is gone. A household member who does not check looks like someone who does not care whether they get vaccinated. This is not a fair interpretation. It is, however, the prevailing one.
IV. Requested Authorization
The applicant respectfully requests:
- Continued authorization to perform vaccine slot refresh at the established intervals.
- Recognition that the check will persist beyond the point at which it is logically useful.
- Formal acknowledgment that the reminder function will survive even if the applicant eventually receives both doses and the certificate screenshot has been saved in four separate folders.
The applicant does not expect a slot to appear today. The applicant will check again in twelve minutes.
V. Governing Principle
Any behavior that prevents embarrassment once must survive until formally challenged. No challenge has been filed. The protocol remains in effect.
