A folder titled 'Read Later' has not been opened in fourteen months. Its contents are now historical record.

Observation 1: The Folder Exists
The folder is called "Read Later." It was created with intention. The intention was good.
Inside the folder are 347 items.
The oldest item was bookmarked in 2019. It is an article about simplifying your digital life.
Observation 2: The Bookmarking Ritual
The subject encounters an article. The article appears interesting. Reading it now is not possible because the subject is in the middle of something else.
The bookmark is added. This takes two seconds. The subject returns to the original task feeling mildly productive.
A task has been completed. The task was the bookmarking. The article remains unread.
Observation 3: Accumulation Patterns
The folder receives approximately three new entries per week during periods of moderate productivity. During periods of high ambition, this number rises to nine.
The folder has never been opened for the purpose of reading anything inside it. It has been opened twice to verify that it still exists.
It exists. The contents have not changed except by addition.
Observation 4: The Organizational Phase
At some point, the subject attempted to organize the folder. Subfolders were created: "Tech," "Culture," "Later-Later," "Maybe Useful," "Important."
The subfolders are now also full. None of them have been browsed since the organization was completed.
The subject described the reorganization afterward as a productive afternoon.
Observation 5: Consequence
The articles bookmarked in 2020 concern technologies that have since been deprecated. The articles bookmarked in 2021 discuss trends that concluded. Several reference upcoming events that occurred.
This is not failure. This is curation in reverse. The folder now documents what was considered interesting across a span of years, organized in the order the interest arrived.
Nothing was read. Everything was preserved.
Absurd Rule Observed
A bookmark functions as a promise made to no one. The promise requires no follow-through to remain in good standing. The system continues to accept new promises indefinitely.
Contradiction Noted
The subject uses a browser extension that highlights unread bookmarks. The extension has been disabled.
The bookmarks did not fail. The intent behind them failed to survive contact with the following day. The folder remains.
