Preliminary Findings on Streaming Quality Check
Once streaming quality check prevents one awkward moment, it must remain in force for the rest of the routine.

The setting that is changed and then changed back is usually the audio output. No one has formally identified why the audio output is checked as part of a visual quality assessment.
When asked, the checking party describes it as part of the routine. The routine is the answer.
The Counterfactual Difficulty
The difficulty with this counterfactual is that the one buffering incident the check was designed to prevent may not have been prevented by checking. The stream that buffered was buffering because of a server issue logged by the platform that day. The check, even if performed, would not have produced a different server outcome.
This has been explained. The explanation was received politely. The check was performed the following evening.
The check was added to confirm quality. It now confirms that checking quality is something that happens here. These are different functions, and only one of them is verifiable from inside the routine.
The Sympathy
The reluctance in this sympathy comes from knowing that removing the check would produce anxiety that checking never produced. The buffering is remembered. The hundreds of evenings without buffering are not attributed to anything. They are simply evenings without incident.
Incidents have memory. Uneventfulness does not.
The check remains. The sympathy is extended with full awareness that it changes nothing.
