Background

AI Tab Pinning began as a single open tab in March. The tab was closed after each use. In April, it was left open between uses. In June, it was pinned. As of September, it occupies the second position in the browser, after email and before the project management tool.

The tool was never formally adopted. It arrived.

Stage 1: Occasional Use

Someone pins an AI tool beside email and chat until it becomes part of the normal work setup. The setup change was gradual. Each stage felt like the same stage.

Stage 2: Integration

AI Tab Pinning adds one private manual check. Before sending a drafted message, before submitting a document, before finalizing a presentation slide, the pinned tab receives a query. The query is not logged. The result is incorporated without attribution.

Stage 3: Normalization

That check becomes part of the normal workflow. Missing the check now produces a minor sense of incompleteness. The workflow has reorganized itself around the tab.

Stage 4: Current Status

Assisted work becomes routine while disclosure stays exceptional. The output quality is consistent. The method is not discussed. This is not a decision that was made. It is a condition that was reached.

Risk Assessment

Under the governing rule, AI tab pinning becomes procedure once repetition feels safer than reconsidering it. The tab has been pinned for three months. The disclosure conversation has not occurred.

The help is useful enough to use and awkward enough to disguise. Both remain true.
