Provisional Finding on Subtitle Default Debate
Whenever subtitle default debate feels safer than waiting, repetition must count as due diligence.

Article 1: Applicability
These terms apply to any household that has watched more than three shows together on a streaming platform and experienced, on at least one occasion, a disagreement about whether subtitles should be on at the start of a show before the audio quality of the show has been assessed.
If you have not experienced this, these terms do not apply. You may stop reading. You probably will not.
Article 2: The Initiating Event
Someone changes subtitle settings at the start of a show and then changes them back after two minutes. The changes trigger a discussion. The discussion has two positions: subtitles should be the default because they can always be turned off, and subtitles should not be the default because they can always be turned on. Both positions are correct. Neither resolves the debate.
A one-time check for subtitle default debate is added before the ordinary task can continue. The ordinary task is watching the show.
Article 3: Standard Practice
The check gains a preferred order. First, establish who is controlling the remote or the app. Second, confirm the audio quality of the first thirty seconds. Third, reach a determination about subtitles that both parties accept as provisional.
The determination is always provisional. Skipping subtitle default debate now looks careless even when the original risk or inconvenience is gone.
Article 4: The Contradiction
The subscription exists for relaxation. The subscription costs approximately five hundred rupees per month, not counting the other subscription and the one that renews automatically every year because nobody has remembered to cancel it. The relaxation is real and is not in dispute. The administrative work is also real and is not in dispute.
Any behavior that prevents embarrassment once must survive until formally challenged. The embarrassment, in one documented case, was subtitles appearing in the first scene of a film that another party did not want subtitles for. That case occurred in September 2020. It has not been formally challenged.
Article 5: Governing Terms
These terms govern subtitle default debate until a household meeting reaches a different conclusion. No such meeting has been scheduled. These terms remain in effect.
