Provisional Order on Bull Market Vocabulary
Someone in the group chat has begun using financial terminology. The rest of the group has begun to understand what the words mean and wishes they had not.
Provisional Order on Bull Market Vocabulary and Its Dissemination Across Social Groups
Issued following a period of sustained terminology adoption in informal chat environments
I. The Observation
At some point between the last market dip and the current conversation, a member of the group acquired a vocabulary. The vocabulary is financial. The group did not request it. The vocabulary has arrived regardless, distributed across several weeks of unprompted messages containing the words "exposure," "correction," "position," and "thesis," used with a confidence that suggests the speaker has been listening to a podcast.
The vocabulary preceded the gains. This order of events is not incidental.
A person who has recently learned the word "exposure" in a financial context will use it in twelve unrelated sentences before the week ends. This is not a prediction. This is an observation drawn from the current record.
II. Observable Consequences
The first consequence is terminological. Other members of the group have begun to look up the words. This was not their intention. The words appeared frequently enough that curiosity became unavoidable. The group is now, collectively, more financially literate than it intended to be.
The second consequence is social. The person sending the messages has acquired a small platform. The platform consists of the group chat and, on at least two occasions, a voice note. The voice note used the phrase "this is not financial advice" in a tone that implied the opposite.
The third consequence is temporal. Time that was previously spent discussing other things is now partially allocated to discussing whether a given asset is "overextended." The group has not reached consensus on what overextended means. The person sending the messages has agreed to explain it again next week.
III. The Absurd Rule
The group chat does not have a moderator. There is no mechanism by which new vocabulary can be reviewed before introduction. Any member may introduce terminology from any domain at any time, and the other members are expected to either adopt the terminology or quietly determine its meaning through independent research conducted later, alone, without acknowledgment.
This is also how the group learned about cold brew ratios in 2019. The mechanism is the same. The results have historically been mixed.
IV. The Contradiction
The person introducing the vocabulary has not, as of the date of this order, disclosed their actual returns. The vocabulary is specific. The returns are not. The relationship between the precision of the language used and the precision of the outcomes achieved remains, for now, unestablished.
The group has not asked. The group understands that asking would produce an answer, and the answer would require a response, and the response would require a position on whether the strategy was sound, and no one in the group is prepared to take that position at this time.
The vocabulary continues to arrive. The group continues to look things up.
