What You Are Looking At
A screenshot posted between 6 and 9 a.m. on a weekday. The screenshot contains code, or a Notion page, or a colour palette, or a dashboard that is not yet connected to any real data. The subject is working on something that will, eventually, be a product.
The screenshot was posted publicly. It was not requested by anyone.
What the Screenshot Contains
The screenshot was cropped to exclude the file paths, the tab showing a competitor's pricing page, and the calendar reminder marked "actual work time." What remains is a portion of work that looks complete even though the portion was selected specifically because it looks complete.
This is not deception. It is curation. The field guide asks that the distinction be respected.
The Governing Protocol
Any morning build screenshot surviving one weekend must be reclassified as a business in progress. This reclassification does not require revenue. It does not require users. It requires only that the screenshot was posted, that someone liked it, and that the person who posted it has not publicly announced they stopped.
The project is supposed to create freedom, yet it keeps generating unpaid administrative work. The unpaid administrative work includes writing the caption for the screenshot.
Stages of the Morning Build Screenshot
Stage 1: The screenshot is genuine evidence of work. It was taken because work was happening and the subject wanted a record.
Stage 2: The screenshot is taken because Stage 1 performed well and a pattern has been established. Work is also happening.
Stage 3. The subject decides whether work or the screenshot comes first. This decision is not recorded anywhere.
The Governing Rule
Visible preparation counts as revenue adjacent activity until the first customer forces a different standard. The first customer has not yet appeared. The preparation continues to count.
Consequence
After repetition, others around the subject began adjusting their morning schedules around the posting window. Someone in a different time zone mentioned seeing the posts and feeling motivated. The subject felt this was good. The subject also felt this was a new obligation.
The caption now takes fourteen minutes to write. The caption used to be absent. Something has changed, but the field guide is not positioned to say what.
Current Status
The screenshot was posted this morning at 7:22 a.m. The project does not yet have a name that the subject is fully comfortable with.
The work continues. The screenshots continue. Neither has produced the other so far, though both are expected to eventually.
