Review of Persistent Fridge Magnet Archive Activity
Annual review of the information management system installed on a household appliance nobody asked to become a database.
Q1 Assessment
The fridge magnet archive entered its current configuration approximately three years ago, though records are incomplete. At that time, the archive contained one doctor's phone number, a takeaway menu, and a handwritten reminder about a payment that has since either been made or forgotten.
The archive continues to contain all three items.
Q2 Assessment
During a kitchen reorganization, several items were considered for removal from the fridge magnet archive. The doctor's number was retained on grounds that it might be needed. The takeaway menu was retained on grounds that it represented a restaurant the household no longer orders from but might return to. The payment reminder was retained because removing it without knowing whether the payment had been made felt like discarding evidence.
Under the governing rule, once a fridge magnet archive acquires a daily workaround, the workaround becomes the official storage system.
The fridge magnet archive is now the official storage system for: emergency contacts, menus, utility numbers, and one business card from a plumber who was recommended two years ago and has not been called.
Q3 Assessment
Three new items were added to the fridge magnet archive: a school schedule for a child who no longer attends that school, a birthday card that was displayed on the fridge and never moved to another surface, and a photograph of a trip.
The photograph has become a permanent exhibit.
Adjacent objects have been reorganized to protect the arrangement from accidental correction.
Q4 Assessment / Annual Finding
The fridge magnet archive is now household infrastructure. This is not a criticism. Infrastructure did not arrive by intention. It arrived because nobody wanted to be the person who decided that the archive was no longer necessary.
A future cleanup creates a formal appeals process led by the person who originally said it was temporary.
The original person has not been identified. The archive will continue to function.
