Terms Governing Closet Cleanout Pile

Section 1. Definitions

"Closet Cleanout Pile" (hereafter: the Pile) refers to any accumulation of clothing, accessories, or fabric-adjacent objects placed in a designated removal zone with stated intent to donate, sell, or discard within a period the party now acknowledges was optimistic.

"The Bag" refers to any container, including reusable tote, plastic shopping bag, or cardboard box, designated to transport the Pile to its stated destination.

"Completion" has not been defined and is not expected to be defined under the current framework.

Section 2. Formation of Binding Arrangement

The Pile becomes a recognized institution upon its second occurrence in the same location. Prior to that, it may be classified as temporary. After that, temporary is no longer a valid classification regardless of what the party says to guests.

The Bag achieves protected status the moment it is moved aside rather than addressed. Moving aside constitutes implicit renewal.

Section 3. Terms Governing Better Moments

The party retains the right to select a better moment for Pile resolution. This right is acknowledged without restriction.

However:

3.1. The better moment may not be scheduled during a period that is also awaiting a better moment for another task.

3.2. Prerequisites acquired by the better moment are themselves subject to these Terms.

3.3. Once the better moment has been deferred three times, it is reclassified as a hypothetical moment, which carries no binding obligation.

Section 4. Reclassification Protocol

Clothes that remain in the Pile for longer than one full seasonal cycle may be reclassified as current wardrobe. This reclassification requires no paperwork. It happens automatically the first time the party wears an item from the Pile.

Upon reclassification, the item re-enters standard rotation. The Bag is then quietly reorganized to appear less full than it is.

Section 5. Late-Year Visibility

Closet Cleanout Pile activity tends to intensify in August as parties prepare for autumn and note, with some surprise, that their spring resolution remains in progress. The Terms acknowledge this intensification. The Terms do not guarantee resolution.

Section 6. Common Sense Jurisdiction

Common sense retains jurisdiction over this matter until the second instance of Pile formation. After that, familiarity assumes authority.

Starting would be simpler. Delay still feels easier. Both statements are simultaneously true and neither resolves the situation.

Section 7. Costs

Avoiding the Pile eventually costs more than addressing the Pile. This finding has been documented. Documentation has not changed the outcome.

These Terms remain in effect until formally challenged. Formal challenge requires completing the Pile. No challenge has been filed.
