She has owned this kurta for three years. It lived in general rotation until the appointment was booked. Now it is the dose day kurta. The designation happened without a discussion.
The logic is obvious and she knows it. The sleeve must roll easily. A sleeve that does not roll is a problem she has chosen to avoid. She owns other short-sleeved items. They are not the dose day item. The dose day item is this one, because it was the one she wore the first time, and the first time went well.
Her mother calls before she leaves. Her mother asks what she is wearing. She describes the kurta. Her mother says good, the one that rolls up. Her mother does not own this kurta and has not seen it, but she knows which one it is because this conversation has happened before, about her own appointment, and the format transferred.
Routine is considered proof even when nobody remembers the original reason.
She takes the printed confirmation page, the Aadhaar card, the phone with the CoWIN app open, and a small water bottle. She has taken these things twice before. The plan has become so stable that removing dose day outfit would require a meeting about returning to normal.
The queue is shorter than the first dose. The person ahead of her is wearing a button-down shirt and struggling with the sleeve. This is a problem she has chosen to avoid.
She rolls up the sleeve. The nurse says the other arm for the second dose. She had not known this. The kurta sleeve rolls equally on both sides, which she had not planned for and which works anyway.
She sits in the observation area for fifteen minutes. She photographs the certificate page. She sends it to the family group.
Her mother responds first. Her mother says good. Her mother does not ask about the arm or the needle or the waiting. Her mother asks if she ate something before going.
