Terms Governing Lunch Restart Promise
The morning is hereby designated as unrecoverable and the afternoon has been assigned all obligations previously owed to it.

Article I: Designation of the Morning as Lost
Upon any morning in which the designated primary task has not been commenced by 11:30am, the morning may be officially designated as Lost. A Lost morning is not a failure. It is a reclassification.
Grounds for Lost designation include, but are not limited to: email responses, administrative tasks, a slow start, a long breakfast, an unexpected conversation, reading that felt relevant, and general environmental unsuitability.
The morning carries no penalty for its Lost status.
Article II: The Promise
Upon designation of the morning as Lost, the participant hereby promises that serious, focused, uninterrupted work will begin immediately following lunch. This is the Lunch Restart Promise.
The Promise is binding. The Promise is not reviewed after lunch. The Promise governs.
Article III: Lunch as Transition Ritual
Lunch, once the Promise has been made, becomes elevated in status. It is no longer merely a meal. It is a boundary event: the official end of the Lost morning and the official beginning of the productive afternoon.
Lunch should therefore be appropriate to its transitional role. It may be extended if a shorter lunch would produce an insufficient psychological boundary. The governing rule applies: once the Lunch Restart Promise produces a feeling of progress, real progress may be postponed without immediate penalty.
Article IV: The Afternoon
The afternoon opens with one brief administrative task, to ease the transition. Followed by a short review of the day's remaining goals. Followed by a clarifying walk or coffee to ensure the cognitive state is adequate for deep work.
By 3:15pm, the optimal conditions for deep work have passed.
Article V: Remediation
The task is rescheduled to the evening. A separate set of terms governs the evening restart promise. They are available upon request.
Article VI: Governing Principle
The strategy never changes the task. The task remains. The strategy changes the name of the period in which the task will be addressed.
