Terms Governing Wrong Group Panic
A message was delivered to the wrong group. The sender is now reading it again to determine whether it was actually that bad.

Effective: The moment the sender realizes

Article I , Recognition of the Event
By sending a message to an incorrect group, the sender agrees to the following terms, which take effect automatically and cannot be waived.
The sender acknowledges that the message has been delivered, read or unread, to one or more recipients who were not the intended audience. The sender acknowledges this. Then the sender reads the message again.
Article II , The Review Period
The sender will read the message a minimum of three times, considering each time whether the message was ambiguous enough to survive deletion or specific enough to require it. This review period typically lasts between thirty and ninety seconds and produces no actionable conclusion.
During the review period, the sender may also check how many people are in the group, whether any of them are people the message concerns, and whether any of those people are people the sender sees regularly. The results of this check will be weighed against the emotional cost of explaining the error.
Article III , Deletion
Deletion is available. Deletion is also its own kind of signal, available to all recipients at the moment the deleted message notification appears. The sender agrees that a deleted message is visible as a deleted message, which means the absence of the message confirms the existence of a message worth removing.
The sender may proceed with deletion after concluding that what the group does not know is still preferable to what the group now knows. This is a judgment call.
Article IV , The Alternative
The sender may choose not to delete, relying instead on the hope that the message reads as sufficiently generic to pass without comment. Several things that read as generic in the moment of sending do not read as generic once sent.
Article V , Subsequent Messages
The sender may send a follow-up message. This is not required. It does not typically help.
Article VI , Expiry
These terms expire when the group stops noticing and the sender stops checking. Neither event has a fixed timeline.
