Someone types a correction to a forwarded claim and deletes it because the discussion is not worth the afternoon.
A claim has been forwarded. The claim is factually incorrect in a way the subject can verify with thirty seconds of searching. The subject opens a reply. The subject types the correction. The correction is accurate, well-sourced, and politely phrased.
The subject deletes it.
The reasoning is economic: the correction would cost an afternoon. The claim, left uncorrected, costs nothing today. The claim is about a topic that will not affect anyone in the group in any material way. The correction is filed under things the subject knows and will not be sharing.
First Consequence

The precedent is not visible to anyone else. It is visible only to the subject, who will consult it the next time a correctable claim arrives. The next correction will be slightly easier to delete because the first one was deleted without consequence.

The Contradiction
The message is easy to ignore, yet ignoring it can feel more socially expensive than reading it.
Reading it confirms its existence. Ignoring it denies the subject the slight satisfaction of having noted its incorrectness. The claim exists in the group either way. In 2022, that was simply the arrangement.
