A population of meeting participants has come to rely on the post-meeting summary to understand what occurred in the meeting they attended, raising questions that the terms and conditions do not address.

Section 1: Purpose. This recap is provided to confirm the contents of a meeting that you attended. You were present for the duration of the meeting or a substantial portion thereof. The information in this recap was communicated aloud in your presence during the preceding sixty to ninety minutes. These terms govern the relationship between what was said and what you now know.
Section 2: Scope of service. The meeting recap provides a written summary of decisions made, action items assigned, and topics discussed. It does not guarantee that the meeting was a productive use of the time allotted. The provider makes no representation as to whether the agenda was followed, whether the allocated time was used efficiently, or whether the outcome could have been achieved via a shorter communication. These are acknowledged limitations.
Section 3: Attendee acknowledgment. By attending the meeting, the attendee does not warrant that they understood, retained, or processed the meeting's content in real time. Meeting attendee attention is non-uniform and subject to interruption by internal thought, device usage, environmental distraction, and the experience of attending other meetings immediately before or after this one. The recap accounts for this.
Section 4: Dependency provisions. Some attendees have come to rely on the recap as their primary record of meeting content. This constitutes meeting recap dependence and is classified as an expected outcome of repeated service use. Dependence does not entitle the attendee to additional recaps, to recaps of meetings they did not attend, or to a service-level agreement on recap delivery time.
The absurd rule embedded in these terms is that a service designed to supplement the record of a meeting has become the primary record of the meeting for a portion of its attendees, who were present for the meeting.
The contradiction is administrative. Attendance is tracked. Attention is not. The recap closes the gap between the two, making attendance a largely ceremonial status for the population who requires the recap to know what was decided in their presence.
Section 5: Limitation of liability. The recap provider is not responsible for actions taken in contravention of decisions reached at the meeting by an attendee who did not read this recap. The attendee acknowledges that not reading the recap and not attending the meeting are, in terms of information outcomes, equivalent.
