Grounds for Application
The applicant requests formal recognition of the streak screenshot as a necessary archival practice. The applicant does not request that the streak be insured, backed up, or protected through any technical mechanism. The applicant requests only that the screenshot practice be acknowledged as rational given the conditions.
The streak number is 94. This figure is stored in a server the applicant does not control, operated by a company whose infrastructure the applicant has not audited, accessible through an application that has experienced service interruptions twice in the past year. The number cannot be reconstructed if lost. It cannot be appealed. It can only be preserved as a photograph on a phone.
The game is called casual. Missing it feels like a small failure. These two facts coexist without resolution.
Under the governing rule, any streak protected from interruption for a week must be treated as part of the morning schedule. The applicant's streak has been protected for ninety-four consecutive days. The morning schedule now includes: opening the application, completing the task, reading the streak number, and screenshotting the display. The screenshot takes three seconds. It is performed before other tasks that have been on the applicant's priority list for longer.
Streak screenshot occupies one protected pocket of the day. Other routines have adjusted around this pocket. The applicant is aware that the pocket is small and that its contents are, objectively, a number produced by a word game. The applicant is also aware that awareness of this has not changed the behavior.
A tiny game becomes a daily obligation. The obligation is self-imposed, renewed each morning, and photographically documented. The applicant does not forward the screenshots to anyone. They exist in a camera roll, forming a dated sequence, for the case that the server loses the record.
