Application for Watching With Captions
Someone keeps captions running on videos they are watching with full audio because the text has become load-bearing.

Statement of need. I am applying for continued authorization to watch short video content with captions enabled even when audio is fully available and functioning. This practice began during a period when audio was not available. That period ended. The practice did not end with it.
I am aware that this is not a disability accommodation. I am aware that the audio is working. I am requesting authorization not for access but for habit, which is a different category and one that this application process does not typically accommodate.
Explanation of persistence. The captions were switched on during a period when sound was unavailable and have not been switched off since, because turning them off now feels like removing a structural element. The text now anchors comprehension in a way I did not anticipate when I turned it on and cannot fully explain now that it is on.
Each clip is easy to leave while the feed removes a natural stopping point. This is not directly related to the caption question, but it is the environment in which the caption question lives, and I include it for context.
Under the governing rule, watching with captions becomes procedure once repetition feels safer than reconsidering it. I have watched approximately six hundred clips in the past four months. Captions were on for all of them. Turning them off now would be a visible change to a system that is currently working.
The break becomes a session requiring a separate act of will. This also applies to the captions. Disabling them is a separate act of will. I have not performed it.
