Battery Policy Changes Below the Sacred Number

Above thirty percent, the phone is a tool. Below twenty, it becomes a condition that must be managed.

3 MIN READphone behavior

Attendees

One person. One phone. One charger, in a different room.

Agenda

  1. Current battery status
  2. Acceptable risk thresholds
  3. Behavior modifications required at each threshold

Discussion

Item 1. Battery at 23%.

At 23%, the person is aware of the battery. This is a change from 45%, at which the battery was not thought about. The transition to awareness occurred at some point between 40% and 30%, which is the zone of mild monitoring.

Item 2. The person has a private battery policy that was never written down and has never been communicated to anyone. The policy is:

  • Above 50%: no action required.
  • 30-50%: awareness mode. Check occasionally.
  • 20-30%: moderate concern. Do not start anything long.
  • Below 20%: do not leave the house. Reduce all unnecessary usage. Consider whether the current location has a socket.

Item 3. The current location does not have an obvious socket. The charger is in the other room.

Under the governing rule, once battery percentage bargaining reduces anxiety once, it becomes eligible for unlimited future use. The bargaining begins: if the screen brightness is reduced, and the Bluetooth is off, and no videos are played, the phone will last approximately forty more minutes at current usage.

Action Items

  • Retrieve charger. (Status: deferred. Retrieval would require leaving the sofa.)
  • Reduce usage to extend battery. (Status: currently using phone to monitor battery.)

Adjournment

Battery at 18%. Emergency protocols now in effect.
