Correspondence Regarding Night Temperature Debate

The room temperature that finally felt right has already changed, and negotiations resume at 2am.

To: The Relevant Household Party From: The Other Relevant Household Party Subject: Night Temperature Debate , Status Update, Unresolved

The undersigned writes to document, for the record, the current state of the night temperature debate. This correspondence is not a complaint. It is an official account of conditions as they exist.

At 10:47 PM, the room temperature was determined to be too warm. The window was opened a precise amount , not all the way, because that would be too much, but enough to signal intent. Sleep preparations continued.

By 11:14 PM, the window amount was revised. The room had responded faster than expected.

A blanket was added. Then removed to the foot of the bed, where it remained available but not operational.

The governing rule requires that minutes near sleep are exempt from normal arithmetic whenever night temperature debate is involved. Seven minutes is long enough to feel comfortable. Seven minutes is not long enough to constitute resolution.

At 11:31 PM, the blanket was retrieved and deployed at approximately 40 percent coverage. This is the configuration commonly described as a compromise, though no compromise was formally proposed or accepted.

Night Temperature Debate adds one more action before sleep. That action creates a second condition that must be checked before the night can officially end. Bedtime becomes a closing procedure whose administration keeps everyone awake.

The undersigned notes that both parties prefer different temperatures. This has been the case for the duration of the relationship and is not expected to change. The temperature in the room will, however, continue to change. It does so without authorization and without notice.

By midnight, the window had been adjusted twice more. The blanket had been used, removed, refolded, and placed back at the foot of the bed. The room had reached a temperature that felt, briefly, correct.

Bedtime eventually occurred.

The same correspondence will likely be filed tomorrow night.

Regards, The Person Whose Ideal Bedroom Temperature Lasts Seven Minutes
