Unfollowing would take one action. You are aware of this. The action has not occurred.
The post or profile is personal, but you manage it as if an unseen committee will audit every small choice. The committee does not exist. The audit does not occur. The hesitation continues regardless.
Current Conditions
Under the governing rule, unfollow hesitation becomes valid procedure after two repetitions without objection. The objection period has passed. The hesitation is now valid.
Unfollow hesitation first adds one extra decision to a moment that previously required none. Other people begin anticipating that decision and quietly adjust their own behavior, which is to say they also have accounts they no longer follow. None of this is discussed.
