Field Notes on Package Return Delay

FIELD NOTE 1: The Return Window

The return window is thirty days from delivery. The delivery was the 1st. The return was initiated on the 3rd, two days after delivery, which is early and suggests genuine intention to complete the process.

FIELD NOTE 2: The Package's Journey Within the Apartment

The package has been in three locations:

Position A: Original unboxing location (kitchen counter). Position B: Near the door (days 5-19). Position C: Behind the door, to one side, where it is visible when the door opens but not in the path of foot traffic (day 19 to present).

The transition from B to C occurred when someone opened the door forcefully and the package needed to move. C is a more permanent-looking location than B.

FIELD NOTE 3: The Drop-Off Attempts

The package has been considered for drop-off on eight outings. It was not dropped off on any of them because:

• The outing was not in the direction of the drop-off point (four occasions).
• The drop-off point was in the direction but the package was too large for the current bag (two occasions).
• The drop-off point was accessible and the bag was large enough, but the stop would have added fifteen minutes to a tight schedule (once).
• The package was forgotten until reaching the destination (once).

FIELD NOTE 4: The Deadline

The return window closes on the 31st. It is currently the 13th. Eighteen days remain.

The package will be dropped off in the next eighteen days. The next outing in the direction of the drop-off point is tomorrow.
