Guest arrived at 7:43 PM. Mobile data was functional. Guest's phone was displaying content normally. No connectivity emergency was in progress.
At 7:47 PM, Guest requested the wifi password.
The request was made without stating a reason. No reason was required.
Agenda Item 2: The Transfer
Host provided the wifi password. The password was either: spoken aloud, typed on the guest's phone directly, or shown on a piece of paper that is kept near the router for this purpose.
The paper near the router is a household institution. Nobody remembers creating it.
Under the governing rule, once the guest wifi ritual becomes a courtesy ritual, efficiency is no longer an acceptable reason to skip it. The guest's functional mobile data was not raised during the transfer. It was understood by both parties to be irrelevant.
Agenda Item 3: Subsequent Events
Guest connected to wifi. A minor preference is left politely unstated. Each person begins adjusting behavior to avoid forcing the other person to state it.
The adjustment: the host does not ask why the guest needs wifi when the guest has working data. The guest does not explain. Both parties understand that the request is not about connectivity.
