Interim Order on Meal Timing Gamble
After meal timing gamble is explained to another person, it becomes policy and must be taught consistently.
Someone delays ordering until hunger is severe because they keep expecting a better meal idea to appear. The better meal idea has not appeared. It will not appear. The delay is not waiting for a better idea. It is waiting for the current hunger to become severe enough that any idea will be accepted. This is the gamble.
The gamble has a known structure: there is an early window in which ordering feels premature, a middle window in which hunger is present but manageable, and a late window in which hunger is severe enough that the decision is no longer enjoyable but is at least final. The meal timing gamble is the act of staying in the middle window while believing the early window is still available.
Consequence One

No one responds with a suggestion because responding with a suggestion would end the gamble and establish the person who suggested it as the person who decided dinner, which is a different kind of responsibility.
Consequence Three
The routine eventually needs its own exception policy for the rare person who refuses to perform it. Someone who orders at five-forty-five is doing something that requires explanation. They ordered early. The early order reveals that the middle window exists, which is information everyone has but which the gamble depends on treating as unavailable. The explanation is given. The early order is noted. It is not repeated.
Convenience becomes mandatory when returning to the ordinary method feels like extra work.
Interim Order
Meal timing gamble is hereby recognized as the standard method for initiating dinner in any household where it has been performed more than twice. Its removal requires a majority decision, the identification of a replacement method, and agreement on what the thinking about dinner message means under the new system. These conditions have not been met.
The service is supposed to remove meal work, but choosing and tracking it becomes its own task. The gamble does not resolve this. It is a second task about when to begin the first one.
