The check occurs before grocery ordering, before meal planning, and increasingly before any activity that might require knowledge of current stock.

Evidence of Procedure Formation
The check now precedes grocery ordering in 100% of observed cases, even when the grocery order was placed three days ago and no food has been consumed since. The check precedes meal planning. The check precedes conversations about what to cook for dinner. The check precedes ordering delivery, despite the fact that delivery makes the check irrelevant.
The refrigerator knows more about the household's intentions than any calendar.
Forensic Reconstruction: The Fourth Opening
At 6:47pm, the refrigerator is opened. The subject removes nothing. The door closes.
At 7:03pm, the refrigerator is opened again. A different household member is present this time. Both parties look at the same shelves. Neither removes anything. The door closes. There is brief discussion about whether to cook or order in.
At 7:22pm, the refrigerator is opened. The subject is alone. The subject is aware that nothing has changed since 7:03pm. The door closes in twelve seconds, which is the fastest close of the day. The speed suggests recognition.
At 7:41pm, the refrigerator is opened. Food is finally removed.
Contradiction Identified
The check is performed even when nothing in the refrigerator has changed since the last check. The subject knows this. The subject checks anyway. The explanation offered when pressed is that something might have changed, or that checking feels like progress toward a decision that is not being made.
Neither of these explanations survives scrutiny. Both are accepted.
Interim Order
The interim order extends existing refrigerator inventory check procedures without modification. No evidence supports revision. A definitive order will be issued once the household makes a decision about dinner, which will occur after one additional check.
