TERMS AND CONDITIONS Governing the Use of Produce Photo Optimism (PPO) Effective: March 2021 and continuing until the platform resolves this

Article 1: The Central Disclosure

By ordering fruit or vegetables from a delivery platform, the user acknowledges that the photo cannot answer whether the actual pieces will be good. The photo was taken once, at the warehouse, under controlled lighting, featuring representative specimens. The user's delivery will contain specimens selected by someone else, under different conditions, using criteria that have not been disclosed.

The user orders anyway. These terms govern that decision.

Article 2: The Workaround

Produce photo optimism began as a private precaution with no audience. The precaution was: order the item with the best photo rating and the most reviews. The logic was that reviews contain complaints, and produce with no complaints is statistically better.

The logic is not wrong. It is also not sufficient.

It became visible enough that other people adjusted their timing or expectations around it. In practical terms: the household now has a preferred vendor for tomatoes, a separate preferred vendor for mangoes, and a third vendor that is used only for onions and potatoes because their photos have proved reliable twice, and familiarity acquires authority once a workaround has been repeated in public.

Article 3: The Monitoring Layer

The delivery saves a trip. The order creates a second layer of monitoring and inventory work. The monitoring layer includes: checking the delivery bag before the delivery person leaves in case a substitution requires discussion, photographing items that do not match the product photo in case a refund needs to be filed, and updating the household notes about which vendor to use next time.

The precaution turned into a social rule whose absence is noticed faster than its presence. The household member who accepted a delivery without checking was asked, with patience, whether the tomatoes had been inspected.

Article 4: Resignation

Whenever produce photo optimism feels safer than waiting, repetition must count as due diligence.

This is the governing standard. It is not endorsed here. It is described here, which is a different thing. The photo will continue to show a mango. The mango will continue to be a different mango. The order will continue.

You accept these terms by tapping the confirm button, as you have done before, and will do again.
