BLANK PAGE FONT CHOICE REVIEW Standing Meeting, Convened Without Prior Notice
ATTENDEES: The person who has typeset a document that does not yet contain an idea.
ABSENT: The idea.
AGENDA ITEM 1: FONT SELECTION
The meeting opened with a review of available typefaces. Eleven fonts were evaluated. Georgia was dismissed as too academic. Inter was considered and found acceptable but not inspiring. Garamond was briefly promoted before being tabled pending further study.
No consensus was reached in the first session. The font selection was carried over to a second session beginning four minutes later.
AGENDA ITEM 2: MARGIN REVIEW
Margins were examined. The default one-inch margin was found to feel institutional. A half-inch was considered aggressive. The final margin selected was 1.1 inches, described by the convenor as "slightly wider, which feels more considered."
The document now looks like a document. It contains no words.
AGENDA ITEM 3: HEADING STRUCTURE
The governing rule was stated for the record: if blank page font choice improves the conditions for creativity, it may postpone creativity indefinitely.
A heading hierarchy was established. H1 was assigned a size. H2 was given a color. H3 was created speculatively in case the document develops enough to require three levels of organization.
The preparation expanded into a system with its own files, references, and standards.
AGENDA ITEM 4: STATUS OF THE ACTUAL CONTENT
The first draft has not happened. The conditions for the first draft are now excellent. The document is ready. The person has been ready since the margins were finalized.
Eventually the project becomes highly organized evidence that the vulnerable first draft still has not happened.
ACTION ITEMS
The following items were assigned with no due date, owner, or definition of done:
- Begin the actual content.
- Accept that the font can be changed later.
- Acknowledge that no font has ever improved a sentence that has not been written.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will convene when the document's color palette requires reconsideration, which is expected shortly.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned. The document remained open. The cursor blinked in the margin. The font was correct.
