Minutes Regarding Daily Game Lunch Break

A daily puzzle is saved for the lunch hour, transforming a casual game into the only guaranteed pause in the workday.

Minutes of the standing Daily Game Lunch Break, July 10, 2023.

In attendance: the participant. Purpose: streak maintenance and protected pause.

The game was opened at 12:43. It was completed at 12:46. A score was achieved. The score was shared with the game's social layer. One contact had already completed it. One contact had not.

The protected pocket was defended successfully.

Daily Game Lunch Break occupies one protected pocket of the day. Other routines start moving around that pocket because its presence is now legible to anyone who has worked with the participant for more than two weeks. Lunch plans that extend past 12:30 are implicitly subject to the participant's return for the game. The game is not mentioned. The schedule adjustment happens anyway.

The game is called casual while missing it feels like a small failure. Casual games do not carry this weight by design. They carry it through streaks, which are the mechanism by which casual becomes mandatory without requiring a formal announcement.

Under the governing rule, daily game lunch break becomes procedure once repetition feels safer than reconsidering it. Reconsidering it would require admitting that the streak number, which is currently visible in the app and has been earned through several months of unbroken daily play, would reset to zero. The streak number has no material value. It has made itself necessary anyway.

A tiny game becomes a daily obligation, and the obligation is easier to honor than to examine.

The minutes note one item of new business: the participant accepted a lunch invitation that required finishing the game on a phone under the table at 12:52. The item was filed under normal operations.

Meeting adjourned. Streak intact.
