The feature has been enabled by a significant number of users.
Performance Finding
The alert arrives after the slot is gone.
This is not a bug in the notification system. The system is functioning correctly: it detected a slot, queued an alert, and delivered the alert within its designed latency window. The latency window, under current demand conditions, is approximately ninety seconds. The slot availability window, under current demand conditions, is approximately sixty to ninety seconds.
The alert confirms that a slot was available approximately ninety seconds before the alert was delivered, which is ninety seconds longer than a slot typically remains available.
Consequence 1: The Alert Market
Third-party alert services have emerged. These services monitor the portal with higher frequency than the official notification system and deliver alerts through Telegram channels, WhatsApp groups, and dedicated apps. The Telegram channels have subscriber counts that suggest most of the people who would benefit from fast alerts have already found faster alerts.
The official alert system competes with this infrastructure and loses consistently, which is not a criticism of the official system. It is a description of the current environment.
Consequence 2: The Alert as Archaeological Record
People who receive the official alert have started using it to confirm that slots had been available, rather than to act on current availability. This is a reinterpretation of the notification's function that the system's designers did not intend and cannot address.
The notification system is a record of losses, delivered with the timing of a post-match summary.
Consequence 3: The Manual Monitor Remains
The alert's inadequacy has not reduced manual monitoring. It has added a population of alert-enabled users who also monitor manually, because they have correctly diagnosed the latency problem. Manual monitoring during peak windows is performed by people who set alarms for midnight, who have browser tabs open on secondary devices, and who have, in documented cases, asked family members in other time zones to monitor on their behalf.
Current Status
The system is operational. Alert delivery is proceeding within designed parameters. Slot availability continues to be briefer than alert delivery latency.
