Preliminary Ruling on Side Chat Formation
A classification notice for the group that spawned a smaller group to process what was happening in the first group.
Classification Notice
This office hereby classifies the side chat as a necessary administrative response to conditions in the primary group, effective at the time of its creation.
Basis for Classification
The primary group (12 members) had reached a state of conversational complexity requiring interpretation. Specifically: two parallel threads were active, one message had been sent to the wrong thread, three members had reacted differently to the same message, and nobody was certain whether a decision had been made or was still in progress.
Under the governing rule, any side chat formation that avoids one direct reply may create unlimited indirect replies. The side chat was created to send one direct reply. The direct reply required context. The context required discussion. The discussion became the side chat.
Current Structure
The communication architecture now consists of:
Primary Group (12 members): Official coordination. Messages here carry weight.
Side Chat A (4 members): Interpretation of the primary group. Created to address a specific confusion, now running continuously.
Direct Message (2 members): Sub-interpretation of Side Chat A. Created when one interpretation in Side Chat A required its own interpretation.
Status: The direct message will eventually generate information that needs to be brought back to the primary group, at which point the cycle restarts.
The Contradiction
The chat exists to coordinate people, but the side chat formation turns coordination into a spectator activity. People in the primary group are now unaware that three other conversations are being conducted about what they said.
The group finally reaches a decision through silence, reactions, screenshots, and one exhausted person summarizing everything.
Status
The side chat is active. The primary group is active. The direct message is active. A decision is pending in all three. The decision will be reached in one of them and then communicated to the others. Nobody knows which one.
