Phase One: The Stay Decision
Room topic pivot adds one extra decision to a routine that previously needed none. The original decision was to join. The new decision is whether to leave. The leave decision is more complex than the join decision because leaving is visible to people still present, and leaving carries an implicit judgment about the new topic that the subject does not intend to make and may not hold.
The new decision creates screenshots, notes, or messages that require management. In this case: a message was sent to the friend who had been in the room, asking whether they were staying. The friend said probably. The subject stayed.
