The haircut was not scheduled until one specific bad mirror check made every previous mirror check irrelevant.

PROGRESS REPORT: Haircut Threshold Reporting Period: 14 Weeks Current Status: Threshold Reached

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The haircut was not scheduled during any of the fourteen weeks reviewed. The governing rule was followed: once haircut threshold is noticed, it outranks every earlier chance to handle it.

Haircut threshold was not noticed during weeks 1 through 12.

PERIOD REVIEW

Weeks 1 to 6: Hair within acceptable parameters. No action taken. No action considered. Task not present in any planning system.

Weeks 7 to 10: Hair approaching upper boundary of acceptable parameters. This was noticed on two occasions. Both occasions occurred on weekday mornings when scheduling a haircut would have required calling, waiting, or explaining. The task was assigned to the weekend. Both weekends were used for other purposes.

Weeks 11 and 12: Hair consistently outside acceptable parameters. This was noted and accepted. The person developed a management strategy involving product and a different parting. The strategy worked well enough to defer the appointment.

Week 13: Haircut Threshold becomes a task for later that day. Later that day was a Tuesday. The salon was fully booked. The task was moved to Saturday.

Week 14: Saturday appointment confirmed. Hair described as: "Yeah, it's been a while."

METRICS

Weeks within acceptable parameters: 6 Weeks managed by strategy: 6 Weeks in acknowledged threshold: 2 Mirror checks that resulted in action: 1 out of approximately 84

FINDINGS

The task is simple and familiar, yet it becomes urgent only after being postponed. Later becomes a repeated checkpoint. The person monitors the task more than completing it.

Eventually the maintenance ritual creates more timing and self-negotiation than the maintenance itself. The task takes forty minutes. The negotiation took fourteen weeks.

NEXT REPORTING PERIOD

Haircut scheduled. Will not be rescheduled. This expectation is not based on evidence.
