January 2021 is week forty-two of home-based grocery management. The subject previously shopped in-store on Sunday mornings. That practice was suspended in March 2020. The substitute practice has generated substantially more administrative work than the original.

The delivery saves a trip. The order creates a second layer of monitoring and inventory work. This has been noted in prior reports.
Key Finding
Convenience becomes mandatory when returning to the ordinary method feels like extra work. Delivery Slot Hunt first consumes a few seconds that nobody considers worth discussing. Those seconds acquire tools, reminders, and preferred techniques for doing them correctly. There is now a preferred time to check for slots (Thursday evening), a preferred browser (the app, not the website), and a household member who is expected to manage the process.
That household member did not volunteer for this role. The role was allocated through a process of observed competence, which is to say they performed the task twice without complaint and the assignment solidified.
Complications This Period
The 6-to-8 AM slot released on Wednesday. The household was asleep at 6 AM. The slot was taken by the time the app was opened at 8:14 AM. The 6-to-10 PM slot was available but fell on a day when the responsible household member had a dinner reservation. The dinner reservation was at home, via Swiggy, but was still considered conflicting.
An order was eventually placed for Thursday at noon delivery. Two items were substituted. One substitution was acceptable. The other substitution was spinach in place of methi, which the household does not consider equivalent but accepted without filing a complaint.
Recommendation
No change. The routine eventually needs its own exception policy for the rare person who refuses to perform it. Nobody in this household has refused. The slot hunt continues.
