Terms Governing Rest Day Suspicion
A rest day is declared after the decision not to exercise has already been made by other means.
TERMS GOVERNING REST DAY SUSPICION
Applicable to all persons who have at any point described a day as a rest day
Article I: Definitions
1.1 "Rest day" means a day on which the subject did not exercise and has subsequently assigned a recovery rationale.
1.2 "Rest day suspicion" means the private or semi-private awareness that the rest day was declared after the decision not to exercise had already been made by non-recovery-related means.
1.3 "Exercise" means any physical activity the subject has, in another context, counted as evidence of commitment.
1.4 "Another context" includes: social media, conversation, internal self-assessment, and any spreadsheet the subject maintains for tracking purposes.
Article II: Conditions of Use
2.1 Rest day suspicion may be invoked whenever the subject has decided, through fatigue, competing obligations, ambient reluctance, or the specific quality of weather or available seating, that exercise will not occur on the day in question.
2.2 The decision under 2.1 need not be made consciously. Rest day suspicion governs the retroactive classification of decisions that were made for reasons other than recovery.
2.3 Under the governing rule, one successful use of rest day suspicion creates precedent for the next similar moment. That success makes repetition feel safer than reconsidering the behavior from scratch.
Article III: Limitations
3.1 Rest day suspicion solves the immediate inconvenience once. The routine measures commitment so closely that preserving the signal can become easier than doing the work.
3.2 After enough repeats, the workaround survives even when the original inconvenience is gone. A subject who is not tired, who has no competing obligations, and who has encountered no ambient reluctance may still invoke rest day suspicion on the basis of established precedent.
3.3 The subject retains the right to dispute this characterization internally. This right does not affect the operation of these terms.
Article IV: Duration
4.1 These terms apply for as long as the subject maintains a routine that can be described as a commitment.
4.2 Upon cessation of the routine, these terms lapse and are replaced by different terms, which are not the subject of this document.
By proceeding with the rest day, the subject agrees to these terms. Agreement is assumed. No signature is required.
