Application for Recognition of Exercise Start Monday

Today is Thursday. The exercise routine will begin on Monday. This was also the plan last Thursday. Monday is the correct day to begin a routine.

To the exercise scheduling committee,

I am writing to formally request recognition of Monday as the only appropriate day to begin an exercise routine.

The Reasoning

An exercise routine requires consistency. Consistency is best supported by a regular weekly structure. The most natural weekly structure begins on Monday, when the week starts, when the clean slate is freshest, and when the psychological conditions for new beginnings are optimal.

Starting on a Thursday creates a partial week: three days of exercise followed by a weekend that disrupts the rhythm before the routine has established itself. Starting on a Monday allows the routine to complete a full week before any disruption occurs.

This reasoning is correct. Starting on Monday is genuinely better than starting on Thursday in terms of week architecture.

The Application History

The Monday start date has been selected on twelve separate occasions. On eleven of those occasions, the Monday arrived and was occupied by circumstances that made beginning on that specific Monday impractical: travel, a commitment, a busy work period, a social event.

On one occasion, the Monday was clear and the exercise occurred. This session was followed by one on the subsequent Wednesday. The routine then went on hold pending the following Monday.

The Request

I request formal recognition that Monday is the correct day to start, that the twelve previous Mondays were each individually unsuitable for specific reasons, and that the upcoming Monday presents conditions that are different from the previous twelve.

I would also like recognized: that the upcoming Monday is thirteen days away, not seven, because the nearest Monday has another commitment.

The Monday after that is the correct one.
