Item 1 , Clear inbox as warmup for deeper work: The inbox warmup was initiated at 9:04am. The stated purpose was to create a clear mental state before engaging with the primary task. This is a recognized warmup technique. It produces a genuine sense of completion, which is indistinguishable, physically, from completing the actual task.
By 9:41am, the inbox was at zero. All emails had been read, sorted, responded to, or marked for later action. Three emails marked for later action were also read again, to confirm later action remained appropriate.
The governing rule: a task may be delayed if the delay can be renamed planning, setup, research, or reset.
Item 2 , Transition to deeper work: Not reached.
Following inbox clearance, a brief review of the notification panel was conducted. Two Slack messages were identified. These were not strictly emails, but they were message-shaped and felt related to the warmup framework. They were addressed.
The Slack channel contained a thread that required reading but not responding. The thread was read. A reaction emoji was considered and not applied.
Item 3 , Review of item 2 not being reached: The inbox is clean. The work is precisely where it was before the inbox was cleaned. The work contains no new information and has not changed.
A second warmup round was proposed, internally. The proposal was not formalized but is receiving serious consideration.
