Field Guide to Workout Calendar Restart
The training plan has been redesigned four times, which means the subject has produced four excellent plans and completed portions of one.
Phase One: Plan Construction
A new workout schedule is created. Days are assigned. Rest days are positioned strategically. The plan accounts for work obligations, sleep requirements, and recovery windows. It is a serious document.
Phase Two: Disruption
Subject misses Monday's workout. The disruption is moderate. Subject notes the plan can be adjusted. Tuesday's workout is moved to Wednesday. Wednesday's workout is moved to Thursday. Thursday is now very full.
Phase Three: Plan Collapse
Thursday's workout does not happen. Friday's workout does not happen. Subject enters the weekend with a calendar that no longer reflects reality.
Phase Four: Redesign
Rather than doing Saturday's workout, subject redesigns the plan. The new plan is more realistic. It accounts for the disruptions the old plan did not anticipate. The new plan begins Monday.
Phase Five: Recurrence
The new plan is disrupted on Monday. Subject notes the plan can be adjusted.
Governing Rule: Under the applicable standard, a fitness goal may be rescued by workout calendar restart even when the underlying habit remains unchanged. Redesigning the plan is an act of commitment. The commitment is to planning, rather than to the activity the plan was designed to organize.
Current Status: Subject is on Plan 4. Plan 4 is the best plan yet. It starts next Monday. This is confirmed.
