Meeting Minutes: Monsoon Balcony Rescue Task Force

Date: July, approximately 4:00 PM, which is when it always happens Attendees: The household, the clouds Purpose: Review of the Monsoon Balcony Rescue incident

Agenda Item 1: Recap of Events

At 3:22 PM, the sky darkened. This was noted by at least one household member. At 3:24 PM, the sky darkened further. This was also noted.

At 3:44 PM, it began to rain. At 3:44 PM and approximately twenty seconds, the household member ran to the balcony.

The clothes were retrieved. They were wet.

Agenda Item 2: Discussion of the Governing Rule

Any monsoon balcony rescue that works twice in city life becomes an unofficial protocol until conditions change.

The protocol, as it currently operates: hang clothes in the morning, monitor sky loosely throughout the day, conduct a soft assessment at any point when clouds appear, reach a tentative decision to retrieve if the sky becomes "very dark," execute the retrieval only after the first drops confirm the clouds were not bluffing.

The clothes are wet. This was always the likely outcome. The committee is convening anyway.

Agenda Item 3: Why the Clothes Were Not Retrieved at 3:22 PM

Multiple reasons were offered:

  • The sky "might have passed"
  • The clothes "might still need more time"
  • Nobody wanted to climb over the terrace railing in case it was a false alarm
  • The last three times the sky darkened like this it did not rain, which has been definitively disproved

Agenda Item 4: Action Items

People nearby begin treating the workaround as the expected route. The expected route is: wait, assess, wait, run, retrieve wet clothes. The newer residents have been informed.

No formal change to the protocol was approved. The protocol will continue.

Next Meeting

Tomorrow, approximately 4:00 PM.
