A recommendation was made for a show. The other person is now watching the show. The recommender is monitoring the outcome with more attention than the show itself received.

The Recommendation
The recommendation was made casually. Person A mentioned a show that had been enjoyable and suggested Person B might also enjoy it. This is a normal social exchange.
The recommendation was not a contract. Person B is not obligated to enjoy the show. Person A's character does not depend on Person B's enjoyment.
These facts are known. They do not affect the monitoring behavior.
The Investment
The recommendation created a stake: Person A's judgment is now partially tied to Person B's experience of the show. If Person B enjoys it, the recommendation was good judgment. If Person B doesn't, the recommendation was misjudged.
This stake is not proportional. Recommending a show is not the same as claiming Person B will enjoy it unconditionally. Different people have different responses. Tastes differ.

The Monitoring

Person B enjoys the show: recommendation validated. Person A notes this with satisfaction.
Person B doesn't enjoy it: recommendation failed from Person A's perspective. Person A retrospectively questions whether the show was actually that good.
Person B hasn't watched it yet: unresolved. The stake remains open.
The Finding
The show is good or it isn't based on its own merits. The recommendation's quality was in the sincerity of the offering. Both are independent of Person B's response.
The monitoring continues regardless.
