Summary
The subject joined a live audio room at 9:14 PM with the intention of listening while completing an unrelated task. The unrelated task was organizing a folder of photos from 2019. The folder had been on the subject's desktop since April 2020. The room contained a conversation the subject found genuinely interesting.

Pre-Incident Context

Finding
Once a household adopts audio room multitasking, convenience outranks the question of whether the ritual still helps. The subject joined the room to multitask. The room was interesting enough to make multitasking impossible. The subject continued multitasking anyway, because abandoning the secondary task would have required acknowledging that the room required full attention, which would have altered the subject's assessment of what kind of room it was.
A one-time check for audio room multitasking is added before the ordinary task can continue. By the end of the evening, both tasks were partially done in a way that preserved the appearance of both tasks being in progress.
